| Soo,
what the h*** is the light in your movie? |
| The
light is a metaphor of her passion, her dream. Her struggle
is a harsh procedure of growing up. Her choice of burning out
might be wrong to some people. But that is how her life goes
like Tycho's Nova, a supernova. |
| How
did you come up with this story? |
| The
idea of Tycho's Nova was come up when I decided to go to US
for film study. My mother, who adored her daughter badly, told
me about two different lives. Following inner passion and giving
up everything or accepting the lovely life around me. Those
days, the desire to be a filmmaker was so strong as if I had
an inner light in my heart. If I suppress it, I feel like I
am going to die anyway. So I chose the life that I have now.
I had to quit my decent job, break up with my love and I had
to leave my family and my country for the first time. Am I happy
now? Yes, I get what I want. At the same time my mother's warning
is also true. However, what I really learn from the decision
is that I am able to appreciate other people's life. Now I really
understand my mother has her own passion like mine even though
they are different. Only after I chose to follow my path, I
could see others. As filmmaker, I want to tell these passionate
people's life with an open mind. |
